no-holds barred, arena-rock meets garage-band styling.

Featuring guitarist Danny Sveinson and acclaimed singer/songwriter Rod Black,
together they are creating songs that are creating a genuine buzz
throughout the North American music industry. Rounding out this
talented foursome is the dynamic rhythm section made up of bassist
JP, and drummer Dean Richards. The combination of Danny's hook
laden, riffmaster guitar flavour, Rod's charismatic, one-of-a-kind
stage presence, and the fist-pounding, "can't sit still" rhythm
provided by JP and Dean never fail to leave the crowd speechless.

Sonic City's live show is like no other. As has been proven time and time again you will never see the same show twice. The depth of these rocker's ability to break out, sending Danny into blistering solos, and impromptu jam-renditions of their best known songs is sure to drop you right in the middle of the rock and roll inferno that is Sonic City.

Danny Sveinson - lead guitar:

Following in the footsteps of the modern guitar legends, Danny Sveinson has displayed the traits of a legendary guitarist in the making from day one.  His soulful yet edgy style epitomizes pure, untainted rock and roll.  His influences include Alex Lifeson, Angus Young, Jimi Hendrix, Joe Perry, The Edge and Jimmy Page.

Danny was the subject for the front cover and feature story in the November 25, 2004 issue of The Georgia Straight (Vancouver's premier weekly entertainment paper), in which he was proclaimed to be "A Guitar God in Training".  Danny began performing when he was 10 as "The Rock and Roll Kid".  That was where his reputation as a formidable lead guitarist began to build.  Phrases such as "old soul", "natural" and "it's just in him" are often heard and expressed by people who have seen him perform.  With a style like a young Page and Perry he stalks the stage as fans wait for his next mind blowing solo to explode.

There has been non-stop attention from the press and Danny has a bevy of television appearances and newspaper features under his belt.  Film production company Mars Entertainment is currently filming for a one hour documentary on Danny that has already been picked up by the CBC, Knowledge Network and SLC in Canada and The Sundance Channel in the USA.

Rod Black - vocals:

Rod is a musician with a wealth of experience under his belt.  If experience is the best teacher, then Rod Burn has had one of the best educations life can offer.

Already acclaimed in the Vancouver music scene for his singing and songwriting, Burn's soulful lyrics and melodic writing style come together to craft songs that crackle with energy and have the depth to stand the test of time.

Rod's performance can only be described as mesmerizing; harnessing some of the best moves on the stage today.  His time spent touring the US and Canada has surely given him the opportunity to hone his craft as a lead vocalist.

Rod is always working with the band to build an arsenal of songs exploding with energy.  The driven rock and roll he performs resonates with fans and his enthusiasm and adrenaline on the stage only serve to further the experience. 

In short, Rod Burn was born to rock the stage.

JP has been developing his craft since his early teens and in that time has gained a deep appreciation for many styles and approaches to music. His amazing skills and improvisational talents are an integral part of every Sonic City song.

Dean Richards - drums:

When you attend a Sonic City performance you can't help but notice the way the rhythm picks you up and slams you back in your seat with every kick of the bass.

The man responsible for that very sonic assault is Dean Richards.  To see Dean play, you can't help but know that you're watching someone born to play drums.  He has a style and enthusiasm that can barely keep him in his seat when he rocks the kit.  It's no wonder that he became one of the most 'in demand' drummers in Vancouver or that he has played all over North America and Europe.  Dean has been playing drums for most of his life and his passion for his craft shows in every performance.

Dean's openness to different musical styles and the fact that he also sings, plays guitar, keyboards and sings brings a flavor and power to his drumming you can see, hear and feel.
